Two friends who felt like doing something to advance humanity in a direction of empathy and kindness created the Urban Hearts Foundation.
Urban Hearts Foundation to provide services and help guarantee that our organization is a place of inclusiveness values where everyone is welcome regardless of age, gender, race, religion, ethnicity, ability or financial status.
The purpose of UHF is to focus on providing educational processes to finding jobs and training for immigrant and refugee families nationally and internationally.
Nawal Azar a co-founder of UH who has over 25 years of experience working with a diverse community of people whether professionally or philanthropically she has deep connections in advancement of empathy in our society. She believes in helping those in times of need.
She has over 17 years of higher education experience working to guide thousands of international students through the higher education system in the United States to achieve their academic goals.
Nawal's parents immigrated to the US when she was 10 and since that time her experiences have been defined by being someone who wants to give back to the community that offered her the opportunity to succeed by achieving the American dream.
Nawal earned a PhD in Learning Design and Technology from the College of Education at Wayne State University where she also obtained her undergraduate degree. Nawal also obtained an MBA from Davenport University.
Dana Antoun a co-founder of UH has over 20 years of Information Technology and Training in the Automotive sector. Dana was a recipient of Crain's Detroit 40 under 40 in 2016.
Dana has volunteered with various organizations like (Coats for Kids, Habitat for Humanity, COACH) just to name a few. She believes everyone has a full right to choose whether to get involved or not. And she personally chose to get involved which helped her see the world from a different perspective.
Dana is first generation American, her parents immigrated to the United States in the 1970s. She was the first of her family to attend higher level education and helped motivate the rest of her siblings in doing the same. She believes everyone deserves a chance to better themselves no matter what the circumstances.
Dana earned a BS from Michigan State University and is also an Alumni of Harvard Business School.
